Reminder: Masks still required at farmers markets

(March 26, 2021) The Ocean Pines Farmers & Artisans Market reminds its merchants, volunteers and community partners that it is absolutely essential to continue the effort to reduce the transmission risk of COVID-19 at the marketplace.  

On April 15, 2020, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan issued an executive order requiring all Marylanders to wear a facemask or a face covering at retail establishments, including indoor/outdoor farmers markets. This executive order is still in effect today. 

All Ocean Pines marketplace participants should continue to follow these guidelines: 
 

• Maintain a clean and sanitized market stand. 
• Wash hands with soap and warm water, or use hand sanitizer. 
• Observe social distancing with other merchants, volunteers, community partners and shoppers. 
• If you are not feeling well, stay home! 

The market recognizes the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and respects the rights of those who are not able to wear a mask or face covering because of a disability. The market will take into consideration any reasonable modifications and will keep the required records of all ADA requests. 

Compliance issues with the mask or face covering policy by the public at large (shoppers) are referred by the market to the Ocean Pines Police Department.  

“Thank you for your kindness and patience with each other,” Market Manager David Bean said. “We appreciate your participation, as well. Together, we will get through this, and hopefully soon return to our normal marketplace operations.” 

Through the end of March, the market runs Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its White Horse Park location. The market returns to in-season hours of 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., starting on the first Saturday in April.
