Video available for virtual COVID-19 town hall

(Jan. 26, 2020) Local health care agencies, including Atlantic General Hospital, TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, and the Worcester, Wicomico and Somerset health departments, hosted a virtual COVID-19 town hall on Monday.

Much of the town hall was devoted to the COVID-19 vaccines, and Worcester County Health Department Officer Rebecca Jones said health department agencies are hampered by the limited number of available doses.

“We are all limited by the supply, whether it’s your local health department or our partners in the acute care setting,” she said. “We’re given weekly allocations, so we can only give what we have. And our weekly allocations have not been tremendous.” 

“I will continue to ask for everyone's patience as we move through this process,” she added.

Jones, during the town hall, walked through the online process necessary for signup. She also said the health department announces new clinics each Thursday morning, at roughly 9 a.m.  

“If you’re having trouble navigating the search, we certainly ask you to ask a friend or family member who may be a little bit more tech savvy to assist you in finding your vaccination clinic,” she said. “If you’re still in need of assistance … we have a dedicated call center staffed to assist you with finding and registering for a clinic.” 

The number for the clinic is 667-253-2140. Jones said the clinic is open during normal business hours, Monday through Friday.  

She also addressed questions about receiving a second vaccination dose.  

“For our clinics, within a few days after your first vaccination, you should receive an email with directions on how to schedule your second dose,” she said. “There will be information within that, that tells you the timeframe as well as what locations are available for you.”
