Celebrate the holidays in Worcester
Monday, November 23, 2020
The following is a release from Worcester County:
Maryland’s Coast is open and supporting local businesses for the holidays. Our coastal communities – Berlin, Ocean City, Ocean Pines, Pocomoke, and Snow Hill – invite you to light up the holidays with them, as they unveil safe and welcoming activities that capture the season’s magic.
Stroll Berlin, and enjoy the downtown window displays starting November 27. There’s a special mailbox to Santa for youngsters to send wish lists directly to the North Pole. Each child will receive a reply and complimentary sweet-treat coupon.
November 28, Small Business Saturday, the Welcome Center kicks off its free gift bag wrap promotion. The promotion continues Monday to Saturday, while supplies last.
Enjoy extended shopping hours, tree lighting, hot chocolate, drink and dining specials at local restaurants. The Light Up Berlin: Holiday House Decorating Contest and Tours starts December 11. For a map, stop by the Visitor Center. Learn more about Berlin events at
www.berlinmainstreet.com
.
Ocean City lights up the holidays with abundant restaurant and accommodation deals. Winterfest of Lights sparkles November 19 to January 2, with thousands of lights. See animated displays throughout Northside Park. Sip hot chocolate. Visit the gift shop. See an animated 50-foot Christmas tree, and soak up the holiday spirit. Admission is $5 for those 12 and older and free for children 11 and under. Leashed dogs are welcome on Wednesdays.
Visit the 38th annual Holiday Shoppers Fair at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center November 27-29. Head to Northside Park, bayside at 125th Street, at midnight December 31 for the New Year’s Eve fireworks display.
This year Ocean Pines Recreation and Parks will host a virtual Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Saturday, November 28 at 6:30 p.m. at
www.facebook.com/OceanPinesAssociation
.
Pocomoke City will host holiday open houses and special activities, at multiple downtown businesses with sidewalk sales and other specials. A Miracle on Market Street takes place Friday, Dec. 4. Enjoy a tree lighting, holiday music by Coastal Sound, carriage rides, sidewalk sales, craft vendors, goodies and giveaways, and a special appearance by Santa.
In Snow Hill, find the perfect holiday gift in support of local businesses. Beginning December 1, Snow Hill Arts on the River will host It’s A Tree Thing at 15 downtown businesses. Tour the trees and enter raffles to take home your favorite tree. A live, virtual Christmas tree lighting will take place Wednesday, December 2, on the What’s Happening in Snow Hill Facebook page.
December 4 is First Friday in Snow Hill. Shop and take in live music. Tour the Drive-Thru Christmas Party at Byrd Park December 17. The first 200 cars will receive a goodie-bag gift with holiday trinkets and merchant coupons.
Still stuck for gift ideas? Purchase gift cards that offer a welcome surprise to the recipients and support the local businesses that depend on you to keep their doors open through this challenging season.
