Free hazardous waste collection offered, Oct. 31

(Oct. 5, 2020) Worcester County Recycling will offer a free, household hazardous waste collection on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the West Ocean City Park and Ride. 

Items that WILL be accepted include: 

• Computers and laptops (no other electronics) 
• Gasoline 
• Gas/oil mixtures 
• Fuels 
• Acids 
• Cleaners 
• Solvents 
• Automotive fluids 
• Bleach 
• Ammonia 
• Pool chemicals 
• Pesticides 
• Dark room supplies 
• CFL light bulbs 
• Batteries 
• Insecticides 
• Herbicides 
• Oil-based paints 
• Thinners 
• Turpentine 
• Wood preservatives 
• Wood strippers 
• Etc. 

 Items that WILL NOT be accepted include: 

• Explosives 
• Ammunition 
• Medical waste 
• Radioactive materials 
• Picric acid 
• Asbestos 
• Televisions 
• TV remotes 
• Keyboards 
• Computer mouse 
• Printers 
• Modems 
• Scanners 
• Cables 
• Misc. computer parts 
• VCRs 
• CD players 
• Calculators 
• Cell phones 
• Radios 
• CB radios 
• Stereos 
• Fax machines 
• Misc. Items 

Materials collected will go to a hazmat disposal sight. Water-based paint may be solidified using dirt, sand, kitty litter, mulch, etc. and put in the trash. 

No materials will be accepted from business, industrial or commercial sources.
