Winter fun with Junior lifeguard programs

As the weather turns colder and school calendars fill with holiday breaks, we know that busy parents are often on the hunt for fun and meaningful activities for their children. At Ocean Pines Aquatics, we’re happy to offer the Junior Lifeguard Program, an opportunity for kids to learn valuable water safety skills, build confidence, and burn off some energy in a positive and engaging environment.

Our Junior Lifeguard programs are designed to run on days when public schools are closed, giving families an outlet that combines education, fitness, and teamwork. Whether your child wants to explore lifesaving techniques, improve swimming endurance, or simply gain more confidence in and around the water, these programs are a perfect fit.

Program Details:

Junior Lifeguard Six-Class Session

• Dates: Sundays, Jan. 19 – March 30
• Time: 1–3 p.m.
• Location: Sports Core Pool, 11144 Cathell Road, Ocean Pines
• Instructor: Steve Yarzinsky & Staff

This comprehensive program offers six weeks of water safety education, hands-on rescue techniques, swimming endurance practice, and fun games to keep participants engaged.

Junior Lifeguard One-Day Program

• Dates: Monday, Jan. 27, Monday, Feb. 17, and Friday, April 4
• Time: 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
• Location: Sports Core Pool, 11144 Cathell Road, Ocean Pines
• Instructor: Steve Yarzinsky & Staff

This one-day course is an exciting, action-packed introduction to water safety, rescue techniques, and teamwork. Participants will also learn basic first aid and get a brief introduction to CPR.

Requirements

To ensure a safe and productive experience, all participants must be strong swimmers capable of swimming the full length of the pool and treading water for at least one minute.
