Ramping up for fun bus trips, fitness classes & more
Thursday, December 26, 2024
The following appeared in the winter 2025 Ocean Pines Report quarterly newsletter:
https://www.oceanpines.org/web/pages/quarterly-newsletters
Hello, Ocean Pines neighbors!
As we move into a new year, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude. Thank you to everyone in our wonderful community – participants, volunteers, and staff –who helped make our 2024 Recreation and Parks programs such a success. Whether you joined a class, attended an event, coached a team, or supported behind the scenes, you’ve played a vital role in creating the vibrant programs we all enjoy. From the entire Recreation and Parks team: thank you!
We’re thrilled to bring you an exciting lineup of activities and events this winter, including two fantastic bus trips and plenty of ways to stay active indoors:
Upcoming Bus Trips
Hockey Night in D.C.
On Friday, Feb. 23, we’re heading to Capital One Arena to watch the Washington Capitals take on the Edmonton Oilers. Your $135 per person fee includes transportation, a game ticket, and a food package featuring unlimited beer and wine during the first two periods (no glass or alcohol is allowed on the bus). The bus leaves the Ocean Pines Community Center at 8:30 a.m. Don’t miss out on this unforgettable hockey experience!
Philadelphia Flower Show
If flowers and art are more your speed, join us on Sunday, March 3, for the Philadelphia Flower Show at the Philadelphia Convention Center. This iconic event features acres of stunning floral displays, artistic pieces, live music, and shopping opportunities. You’ll also have time to visit the nearby Reading Terminal Market for authentic Philadelphia food. For $80 per person, you’ll receive transportation and a ticket to the show. The bus departs from the Community Center at 8:30 a.m.
Winter recreation highlights
Our indoor programs are in full swing! Youth Basketball kicks off in January, with games on Saturdays and weeknight practices. Coaches are needed, so if you’re interested in inspiring the next generation of athletes, please reach out to us.
Other programs include Zumba, Tai Chi, Yoga, Pilates, and Line Dancing, with multiple sessions running throughout the week. Registration is also open for Wall-to-Wall Adult Coed Dodgeball starting in January, and our Men’s Basketball League, which begins in March.
Be sure to visit the Pionee’er Artisan Gift Shop during the weekend Farmers Market. It’s a treasure trove of handmade items waiting to brighten your home. Farmers Market hours continue through the winter; check the website for any updates.
Summer Camps Are Coming!
While we’re embracing winter, we’re already looking ahead to warmer days. Mark your calendars: registration for our 2025 summer camps opens on Monday, March 3. These camps fill quickly, so don’t miss your chance to sign up early!
For more details on programs, trips, and events, visit

or call the Community Center at 410-641-7052. And if you’d like to volunteer, we’re always looking for friendly faces to help make our programs even better.
Here’s to a safe, healthy, and fun-filled 2025!
