Ocean Pines Racquet Center to host doubles tournament

The Ocean Pines 2022 Doubles Challenge returns to the Ocean Pines Racquet Center on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Warm-up begins at 8 a.m.; play will begin at 8:30 a.m. There will be divisions for men and women, and each team will be guaranteed two matches.

This popular one-day tournament promises an exciting day of play featuring some of Ocean Pines' best players.

Tournament details:

The Draw

Doubles teams will be seeded accordingly, based upon standings from last year and/or level of play. USTA level ratings will be the standard evaluative tool.

Divisions

The goal is to field eight teams per division for the ideal tournament setup. If there are fewer than eight teams, a different format may be implemented.

Format of Play

Format 8 Game Pro Set: NO AD
First team to 8 wins. **Note: If it gets to 8-7, the team must win by two games (9-7)
If it gets to 8-8, a tie-breaker will be played. PRO SET- tiebreak (first to 7 points, win by 2 points)
Losing team will play a consolation match against another losing team in the second round.
Final will be played on Court 1 approximately at noon.
Match balls will be provided. Balls stay on the court after the first match.

Cost

Free for Ocean Pines Tennis Club members
$15 per person for non-members. Any fees due will be collected on match day prior to play.
