Kiwanis Recognizes with fun trophies / Kiwanian of the Year

The following is a release from the Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines - Ocean City:

(Oct. 4, 2021) Usually, annual recognition awards for jobs well done by chairs of Kiwanis programs are nice paper appreciation awards. 

This year, Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines-Ocean City, Maryland outgoing President Steve Cohen came up with a unique way of giving recognition. 

Trophies were presented as follows:
 

• Mensa Award for Sign-Up Genius to Mary Page, who keeps the roster and does signups for events
• Bill & Melinda Foundation to Mark Page, Kiwanis Club Of OP-OC Foundation treasurer
• Salesman of the Year - Car Show sponsors to Tim Lund
• Chief Statistician - Car Show registrants to Mike Castoro (also known for playing his bagpipes)
• Speaker of the House to Suzanne Foley, chair for obtaining weekly guest speakers
• Lotto King to Tom Southwell, handling sales of lottery raffle tickets weekly at the OP Farmers Market
• Rookie of the Year to Doreen O'Connor, new member, advisor to K-Kids at Buckingham Elementary
• Companion Doll of the Year to Diane Sparzak. chairs making of dolls for kids and patients
• Coat Hero Award to Kitty Wrench, co-chair for the Annual Coat Drive
• Coat Hero Award to Sue Wineke, co-chair for the Annual Coat Drive
• Command Center to Carolyn Dryzga, Secretary-Treasurer, PR webmaster and many other things
• Pulitzer Prize to Dave Landis, press relations chair and Toy Drive
• Bobby Flay Grill Award to Candy Foreman, co-chair the "Dawg Team" over 15 OP events with food
• Bobby Flay Grill Award to Roy Foreman, co-chair "Dawg Team" (Husband of the Boss!)
• Presidential Advisor special recognition plaque to Shelley Cohen ("The President knew who's Boss")

Additionally, the organization presented its annual Kiwanian of the Year award, which is the most prestigious award given each year by the outgoing president in recognition of outstanding contribution to the club.

This year, outgoing President Steve Cohen presented the award to Candy Foreman and Roy Foreman, spouses and co-chairs of the Kiwanis Club of Greater Ocean Pines-Ocean City vaunted "Dawg Team."  

The Foremans chaired the hotdog, hamburgers, snacks and drinks team that served food for "The Wall That Heals" volunteers, at all the summer weekly "Concerts In The Park," The OP Fourth of July Celebration, the Pine'eers Craft Fair, the Kiwanis Car Show in OP, the OP Summer Flea Market, the "Big Trucks Day" in OP and three more upcoming fall events in Ocean Pines. That speaks for why Roy and Candy Foreman are the "Kiwanians of the Year."

Weekly meetings are held in the Assateague Room of the Ocean Pines Community Center. Doors open 7 a.m. for socialization, and meetings begin at 8 a.m.
