OPA President statement on false rumors of his resignation

The following is a statement from Ocean Pines Association President Doug Parks:

I wanted to comment on an issue that was just brought to my attention. There is a rumor going around that I have resigned from the Ocean Pines Board of Directors and I wanted to set the record straight that the rumor is false and has somehow been manufactured to cause confusion within the community. Given the election is three weeks away, any misinformation must be clarified to ensure Ocean Pines members have accurate and factual information regarding their community. Just to set the record straight, I have not resigned from the Board and am still serving as President of OPA until the upcoming election. 

One individual mentioned to me that perhaps some folks had misread the article on the front page of the current edition of the Ocean Pines Progress. The title “Tuttle says Parks wont serve again as OPA President” could be a little misleading to some. The intent of my comments to Steve Tuttle and the other Directors was just to share a sentiment that if I get re-elected, I would encourage another Director to consider serving in that position. I’ve had the good fortune to be President for the last three years and have been surrounded by Board colleagues whose desire is to serve and support the community as a team. 

I am running for re-election and have a strong desire to continue working with these colleagues and serving the community. Given the rumor I felt it important to ensure that the membership has the facts and the truth. Many thanks for understanding.
