This Week in The Pines: July 2

Red, White & Boom Week-Long Celebration in Ocean Pines, Maryland: Ocean Pines residents and nonresidents are invited to an annual tribute to the Stars and Stripes in the annual Freedom 5K Race (50th Anniversary Edition) along a scenic route around the South Gate Pond. Register the day of the event for $35. The patriotic celebration continues at the Veterans Memorial Park. The Fourth of July carnival will feature a DJ, water slides, moon-bounces, carnival games, pony rides, refreshments and more. Carnival games will be free. This event is also open to the public. At dusk, a grand fireworks display will illuminate the sky above Ocean Pines near Showell Park on Racetrack Road. As a reminder, parking will not be allowed along the shoulder of Route 589 and Beauchamp Road in Ocean Pines.

Plus, it’s red, white and bloom at the market. Plan to spend your Wednesday morning at White Horse Park. You’ll find plenty of locally grown produce, Maryland crabs and seafood, baked goods, and handmade artisan items.

Don’t forget: Ocean Pines 50th Anniversary Committee will host a panel discussion, titled “Timeless Tides: The Ocean Pines History Panel,” on July 12 at 3 p.m. the Community Center.

That and more can be found in This Week in The Pines.
