Resident
Tres Denk, of ESIMBA,
attended the MD Coastal Bays “Go Green” Social Hour.
(Eastern Shore International Mountain Bike Association)

This
event was an informal social showcasing several of MCBP partnerships with other
local environment groups and we invited those with environmental interests to
come out and learn about these groups and opportunities.

Other groups
included the Ocean Pines
Environment & Natural Assets
Advisory Committee
, the Lower Shore Land Trust (LSLT), Assateague
Island Alliance (AIA), Ocean City Surfriders,Berlin Library Sustainable Garden
group, the Worcester County Garden Club, Tri County Bird Club and the Oyster
Recovery Partnership. The Ocean Pines C
ountry Club
offered happy hour drink prices and hors d’oeuvres to all attendees.

The event
was a very simple and unstructured social aimed to introduce those interested in
their environment with local opportunities as well as an occasion to meet others
with a common interest to developed new ideas, discuss done deals and maybe even
find moments of serendipity.

BREAKFAST BARS FOR OUR
TROOPS.

With the reduction in our
armed forces in Afghanistan, the kitchen facilities are being pulled out. The
result? Hot breakfasts are being supplemented with MRE’s, which supplies the
needed nutrients but tends to be bland and boring. Therefore, breakfast bars
(oatmeal mixes, protein bars, cereal bars) are being collected by the Caring for
America Program of the Republican Women of Worcester County. Through March 31st,
collection boxes will remain at Copy Central (Cathel RD, Ocean Pines), Re/Max
(Rt. 589, Ocean Pines), Prudential Pen/Fed Realty (11001 Manklin Meadows Lane,
Ocean Pines), the Ocean Pines Library, the Ocean Pines Community Center,
Allstate Insurance (9927 Stephen Decatur Hwy, STE 12, Ocean City). you can make
a donation to help with shipping costs, contact Lou Etta McClaflin at
410-641-7391 or
louetta@mcclaflin.com.
