Normandy Veterans Raised First Flag at Ocean Pines Yacht Club

It was a wonderful day to raise the first flag at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club! This flag has flown 3 times, the first time at the American Cemetery at Normandy in Sept 6, 2004. It was the first flag raised at the dedication of the Worcester County Veterans Memorial at Ocean Pines on May 30, 2005, and ten years later as the first flag flown over the Ocean Pines Yacht Club on Saturday, January 10, 2015.  D-Day survivor John Sauer USA, who landed at Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944, as a member of the 29th Division, raised the first flag.  He was assisted by WW II Veteran Nate Pearson and Bob Thompson, USAF Ret, and GM of Ocean Pines.  John received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his bravery. Over 120 people attended the event today at the Yacht Club and enjoyed a reception that followed.  Thank you to the Vets, the Veterans Memorial, Yacht Club Staff, and everyone who came out to enjoy this occasion with us.  Thank you Joe Reynolds and Don Lafond for the photos. Stop by and take a look at this beautiful flag!

Saturday Farmers Market in White Horse Park!

8am -1pm Year-Round…..New Vendors Weekly

COMMUNITY CORNER TENT

We’re now taking reservations for our Community Corner Tent for the 2015 market year.  This is a great way to introduce your nonprofit or service group to the farmers’ market shoppers.  The Community Corner can be used for membership drives, fund raising (excluding bake sales) or to hold a demonstration.  For more information, and to reserve your date; contact Market Manager David Bean at 410-251-6383 or at flavordrizzles@gmail.com.

VOLUNTEER AT MARKET

The Friends of the Ocean Pines Farmers Market is our volunteer group.  As a volunteer you could have the opportunity to rub elbows with our farmers and learn more about local agriculture, hob-knob with the bakers for inside secrets to their best recipes or just make new friends with others interested in supporting the farmers market.  Volunteer opportunities are available at any level of commitment and hours are flexible. To find out more, you can stop by our Information booth any Saturday or contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Tracey Hofman at TraceyHofman@aol.com.
