Fresh at Market

Returning and plentiful this month: apples, pears, quince, radishes, butternut squash, acorn squash, spaghetti squash, kale, mustard greens, turnip greens, chard, spinach, salad greens, micro greens, sprouts, herbs, mushrooms, green beans, cabbage, carrots, celery, celery root (celeriac), scallions, shallots, onions, garlic, beets, turnips, rutabaga, Haas avocados, cauliflower, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, potatoes, sweet potatoes

Winding down or available in limited supply: zucchini, cucumbers, peppers, local tomatoes

Great Expectations Farm – It’s almost turkey time!  The farm will start taking orders and deposits for Thanksgiving turkeys on October 24.  Additionally, the October special includes one package of breakfast sausage, one package of stew beef, one package of chip steak and one package of beef patties for $25.  Visit Great Expectations at the market or drop by the farm shop.

sweet potato pieSnow Hill Heirloom Pies – This week Ms. Marilyn has sweet potato pies coming out of the kitchen oven.  Made with locally-grown sweet potatoes, this pie will not stay around very long once you get it home!  Order your pies for Thanksgiving now!

Pampered Chef by Janice – Pamper for a purpose!  Pink “Help Whip Cancer” products are now available.  All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and a local family dealing with brain cancer.

Tumbleweed & Eddies – Pumpkin dog biscuits are back!

Great Shoals Winery – The winery will have sampling wines to pair with your autumn meals or enjoy by the fire pit on a cool fall evening.

Old World Breads – New autumn baked goods and breads featuring the warm spices and fruits of the season will be at the market.

Rocking T Farm – From Judi’s farmhouse kitchen, Green Matcha Tea Cake Balls are becoming a market favorite.  Make sure you also check out her popular spicy jams, which are great as a glaze on grilled meats or spread over cream cheese on a cracker.

Thanksgiving MarketAs you prepare for a day of family, football and feasting, start your shopping at the Ocean Pines Farmers Market for everything you’ll need to make Thanksgiving Day a little more special, including a complete selection of local and regional vegetables and fruits, locally-raised turkeys, delicious baked goods, eggs, milk and butter.  You’ll also find beautiful bouquets and centerpieces, handmade beeswax tapered candles, autumn scented jar candles, decorative pumpkins and gourds and hostess gifts from our many talented artisans.

Kids Market Zone

This Saturday at the Kid’s Market Zone, the Crafting Crew will have a mystery box of items and will be making something fun with the kids. Kids Market Zone activities are free!  Activities begin at 9 am and are open to all children ages 3 to 14. The Holy Trinity Cathedral is host of the Ocean Pines Farmers Market’s Kids Market Zone.
