Spend your Saturday morning at the Ocean Pines Farmers Market! This week’s market will feature new vendors, a craft for the kids, fall produce and live music. Vendor News – Visit new vendor Maui Bird Company on Oct. 11. Maui Bird, a unique local organic company, makes handmade baby items including burp and face cloths, bibs, teething rings, hats and more. Visit www.mauibirdco.com. On Oct. 18, Stag Run Farm, an apple orchard in Georgetown, Del., will be visiting the market. Their fall varieties include Pacific Gala, Fuji, Macintosh, Royal Empire, Red Rome and Granny Smith. And on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1, Flower Farm on Silva – located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore – will be offering a dozen types of daffodil bulbs and unique hand-crafted items including feed bag totes and pool ball wire spiders.
Fresh at Market – Fill your market basket with seasonal fresh produce such as lettuces, arugula, bok choy, kale, collards, cabbage, chard, apples, potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, garlic, radishes, beets, carrots, turnips, winter squash and pumpkins. Or decorate your home with mums, flowering cabbage, flowering kale, ornamental peppers, Indian corn, gourds and pumpkins of every size and shape.
Kids Market Zone – On Oct. 11, the Ocean Pines Farmers Market is going to the birds with a fun project to teach children to appreciate the wildlife in their own backyards. Ms. Vicki and her creative crafting crew will be making pine cone bird feeders for kids ages 3 to 14 beginning at 9 am. Holy Trinity Cathedral will be hosting this activity. A small donation is requested but not required.
Thanksgiving Market – Satisfy all of your Thanksgiving feast needs at the Ocean Pines Farmers Market Thanksgiving market on Nov. 22. Visit all of the market vendors, including some of your favorites from the spring and summer season who will be making a appearance for this special event.
