This Week at the Ocean Pines Farmers Market

Farmers market 1

Fall is in the air at the Ocean Pines Farmers Market!  This week you can visit new vendors, enjoy late-summer produce, listen to the “Uke of Earl” and meet Tom the Turkey! The market is open from 8 am to 1 pm this and every Saturday at White Horse Park.  You’ll find local fresh produce, artisan breads, baked goods, handcrafted items, meats, seafood, pet treats, wine, soaps and much, much more.  Click here to view a complete list of the Ocean Pines Farmers Market vendors  participating in this season’s market.

Fresh at the Market – This week’s market will feature late-season tomatoes, lima beans, eggplant, spaghetti squash, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, green beans, red beets, greens, apples and pears.

New Vendors – Welcome to new vendors Great Expectations Farm, Girdletree Gardens, Pearls of Elegance and Mary Kay cosmetics.  Great Expectations raises all-natural grown beef and pork on their Rhodesdale, Md. farm and will be at the market beginning Sept. 20.  Girdletree Gardens features delicious breads baked right here in Worcester County.  Sample Amish friendship bread, banana bread and more.  Pearls of Elegance artisan designer Susan Quigley creates jewelry from freshwater pearls and crystals.  She will be at the market Sept. 13, Sept. 20 and Sept. 27.  And be sure to visit Molly at Mary Kay cosmetics for skincare and make-up products.  Molly will also be offering free consultations.

Meet Tom the Turkey – Farmer Dave of Tyaskin Pasture Fresh is bringing his new friend, Tom the Turkey, to this week’s market.  Tom is one cool turkey that hangs out with Arnold  the pig at the farm.  He’s no butterball and fortunately will never be the center of any holiday meal! Stop by to learn all about turkeys and meet Tom.

Coming Soon! Kids Market Zone – Pumpkin Palooza will invade the Kids Market Zone on Sept. 27!  Ms. Vicki Lawrence and her pumpkin patch assistants will be crafting with kids between 9 am to 12 noon.  Each child will choose a pumpkin and then decorate it with a variety of craft materials.  This activity is open to all children between the ages of 3 and 14, and the cost is $12 per child.  The Kids Market Zone will be located next to the Holy Trinity Pantry.  Proceeds from this Kids Market Zone activity are being donated to the Holy Trinity Church.

Community Corner Tent – Now your civic group, club or non-profit organization can be featured under our Farmers Market Community Corner Tent.  Hold a fundraiser, sign up new members or offer a demonstration to market visitors.   For more information on how your organization can be featured at our Community Corner Tent, email us at info@oceanpines.org or call 410-641-7717 ext. 3006.
