The Ocean Pines Anglers Club will host its annual “Teach A Kid To Fish Day” on Saturday, June 23, 9-11 a.m. at the South Gate Pond near the Sports Core Pool, 11144 Cathell Road in Ocean Pines.
Kids of all ages are invited to “test the waters” while learning fishing skills and techniques with the members of the Ocean Pines Anglers Club at the free public event.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for parents and grandparents to share their love of fishing with a new generation,” stated a press release that was submitted by Jack Barnes, of the Ocean Pines Anglers Club. The press release goes on to state, “The pond has been stocked with several species of fish and bait will be provided.”
Members of the Anglers Club and Maryland’s Department of Natural Resources will offer, knot tying, fish identification, casting and fishing tips.
Club members ask that participants bring their own rod. There will also be a drawing for a free rod & reel. Pre-registration is required.
