Two separate projects are set to affect traffic in Ocean Pines in the upcoming weeks.
“We have hired a paving contractor to repair the corner of the Manklin Creek intersection where Ocean Parkway exits from the north side onto Manklin Creek Road, going toward Route 589,” said Ocean Pines Facilities Manager Kevin Layfield.
The intersection repair will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 14. “All work should be completed by Friday, Nov. 16 at 3 p.m.,” Layfield said.
The work will cause a road closure of the southbound lanes of Ocean Parkway stretching from Firehouse Lane to Manklin Creek Road. Manklin Creek Road will also be closed westbound exiting to Route 589; exiting traffic will be directed to Cathell Road during the construction. Firehouse Lane will be open for access to the recycling center, Public Works and the south side fire house.
Line striping of Ocean Parkway and Cathell Road is also slated to begin on Monday, Nov. 26, weather permitting. Straight Line Striping, a Georgetown-based company that specializes in striping, sealcoating, asphalt paving and repair, has been contracted for the project. The work should be completed in two to three days, according to Layfield.
