The Ocean Pines Board of Directors has announced at the May 24 Regular Board Meeting that folks can contact the recently hired full-service CPA and consulting firm with “facts” that would be investigated during the forensic audit of the Association.
Any individual, to include owners, employees, or vendors, past and present, with factual information about current or past illegal practices, theft, fraud or other irregularities are invited to provide that information directly to the Forensic Audit team. The Audit team will not waste OPA funds on investigating innuendo, or unsupported facts.
Individuals are asked to send their written statements and/or documents to 36 South Charles Street, 18th Floor, Baltimore, MD 21201, ATTN: Jim Kern or call 410- 685-5512.
Jim Kern, CPA, CFE, CVA, leads the firm’s Forensics & Litigation Support Group. He specializes in fraud and embezzlement investigations, business interruption loss evaluations, insurance claims, evaluation of accountants’ malpractice, and calculations of the value of stolen or destroyed cash and inventory, according to the company’s website.
The Board voted unanimously, with one director absent due to a schedule conflict, at a Special Board Meeting on Thursday, April 5 to award a contract for forensic audit services to Gross, Mendelsohn & Associates.
Gross, Mendelsohn & Associates offers complete financial needs of both for-profit and nonprofit organizations in Maryland, Virginia and the surrounding area. The firm has offices in Baltimore and Fairfax, Virginia.
