The Ocean Pines Pickleball Club has completed its “Ladder Challenge,” which was conducted every Wednesday in July at the eight new outdoor courts at the Manklin Meadows Racquet Sports Complex, located at 11443 Manklin Creek Road in Ocean Pines.
The challenge was designed to create a competitive playing situation using groups of equal abilities. The goal in each “Ladder Group” was to rise to the top of the assigned group that changed weekly based upon the evening’s results. The top two players in each group rose to the next level while the lower scorers moved down.
Approximately 50 players participated during the four-week event and the winners were presented with their ladder awards and gifts after the last session on July 26. (Winners are pictured below.)

The event kicked off on Wednesday, July 5 with participants from Ocean Pines and surrounding area. Among the participants were our youngest competitor, Johnny Liberto, a rising senior at Steven Decatur High School; and, our most seasoned competitor, Marion Lisehora, a National Gold Medal Winner, from Millsboro, Del. It was a fun month for all who participated. The event was sponsored by the Pickleball Club Board of Directors, and coordinated by John Hanberry, Phil Quinto, and Daniel Brandewie.
