Project in the Pines: Week of March 11

Presented by Colby Phillips:

This summer SHA will construct a second left turn lane from eastbound US 50 to MD 589. They will be extending the new lane northbound on MD 589 up to the casino entrance. Most of the work will be behind a barrier but there will be some occasional nighttime flagging operations to run drain pipe across MD 589. Work start is probably May/June. A schedule will come out as we get closer.

The Beach Club Bid contract was awarded to East Coast Construction for the amount of $162,354.50. Work will be started soon.

The bid openings for the Country Club and Police addition will be this Wednesday, March 13th at 12 pm at our administration building. This is open to anyone who would like to view these bid openings.

The Sports Core pool had a new AAON unit put in last week that will help with the pool deck temperature and has already made a huge difference! Thank you, Butch Kennedy, from PW for completing this for us! Thank you to the Aquatics team and Clint Parks in PW for the hard work in getting the pool drained and cleaned during our closure last week.

The Craft building was approved at the most recent board mtg to be replaced. Our recreation manager Debbie Donahue is starting to work on getting this project underway.

We are currently looking at alternatives for the bulkhead replacement program to reduce the increase to costs that were recently added due to the loss of the staging area at Swim & Racquet which is no longer in use.

Landscaping is starting to take place throughout the Pines with our landscaping crew in Public Works.

Public Works continues to put much focus on our drainage issues and bulkhead program. If anyone is interested in being a part of a working group with the emphasis on solutions for these projects/areas of concern as well as future ones, please email me at cphillips@oceanpines.org

Thank you all for your continued support of our great team here in Ocean Pines!
