Young shooters and dribblers are encouraged to sign up now for two youth basketball clinics hosted by the Ocean Pines Recreation & Parks Department beginning Oct. 11 at the Ocean Pines Community Center. Led by Ocean Pines recreation staff, these clinics are created for beginners and experienced players alike.
Little Shooters, for children ages 4 to 6, offers an introduction to the basics of basketball. Participants will learn dribbling, passing and shooting as well as the basic rules of the game in a fun, non-competitive environment. This program will be held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., with a second session scheduled to begin on Jan. 10, 2015. The cost for six classes is $40 for Ocean Pines residents and $50 for non-residents.
Older children ages 7 to 14 will enjoy Hoopsters, which is designed to help beginners and advanced players improve their skills. Participants will learn the fundamentals of dribbling, passing and shooting as well as game strategy and rules. Each session will include skills and drills, progressing to scrimmage games. This program will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with a second session scheduled to begin on Jan. 10, 2015. The cost for 6 classes is $40 for Ocean Pines residents and $50 for non-residents.
