Ocean Pines Under Winter Weather Advisory

The National Weather Service/Wakefield has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for inland Worcester and Accomack counties,  including the cities of Snow Hill, Chincoteague, Wallops Island, and Melfa. The advisory remains in effect from 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 to 1 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, according to NWS.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery roads and limited visibility, and use caution while driving.

Forecaster with the NWS said area residents should plan for slippery road conditions. They are calling for “mixed precipitation” with possible snow accumulations of one to two inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze. Winds could gust as high as 35 miles-per-hour on Sunday, NWS reports.
