Memorial Day Ceremony in Ocean Pines

The community is invited to join the Worcester County Veterans Memorial Monday May 25th, at 11 A.M., as we honor those veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.
A solemn ceremony has been planned filled with patriotic music and expressions of appreciation for those who have given all while preserving our freedoms.
Our guest speaker will be Major General James A. Adkins, who recently retired, following his service as the 28th Adjutant General of Maryland.
General Adkins, an Eastern shore native, served 40 years in both the enlisted and officer ranks. He served in intelligence, infantry and cavalry assignments in the United States and abroad.
This year’s ceremony will also honor our local Gold Star Mothers and our local American Ex-POW’s. The Delmarva Chorus, Frank Nanna and the WWIIunes, Todd Crosby and Randy Lee Ashcraft will provide patriotic music. This year’s ceremony marks ten years since our dedication on May 30, 2005. Our first flag, which had flown over the American cemetery at Normandy, will
fly once again in honor of this special occasion. Many of our original flag raisers will be present to once again raise the flags to full staff at noon. The ceremony will last one hour.
Please bring a chair as seating is limited but available to those needing assistance. The Worcester County Veterans Memorial is located in Memorial Park, between Cathell and Manklin Creek Roads on Rte. 589.
