OCEAN PINES AND WORCESTER COUNTY TEAM UP FOR BICYCLE SAFETY WITH BIKE RODEO
In an effort to continue to promote bicycle safety in Ocean Pines, the Ocean Pines Recreation and Parks Department, Ocean Pines Police Department, and Worcester County Extension Office have all teamed up to offer a FREE Bike Rodeo on Saturday April 6, 2013 starting at 11am. Uniquely enough this event is open to all ages. The Bike Rodeo will be on the Ocean Pines Golf & Country Club’s back 9 hole’s cart path. The back 9 holes has been closed for renovation and will reopen May 1, 2013.
There will be multiple training phases including stop and go, bumps, and obstacles. Instructors will also discuss proper hand signals and laws while riding on the road all in an effort to increase riding skill levels. The course will be broken into two parts. Part one will be solely designed for the training aspects of the course while part two will be an open ride on the back nine holes cart path of the golf course.
It is preferred that kids bring their own bikes and helmets to the rodeo, but free helmets shall be provided to those kids who do not possess one. Riders can decorate their bikes with their favorite old or new Ocean Pines items as prizes will be awarded to the most unique and creative bikes. In Maryland, all youths under the age of 16 must wear a bike helmet on public roads. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a riding adult during the Bike Rodeo.
Let’s have some fun and learn something at the same time! No appointments necessary. Bring your kids to our Ocean Pines Bike Rodeo!
