Association Releases Summer 2018 Newsletter

The Ocean Pines Association (OPA) has released its summer quarterly newsletter, The Ocean Pines Report. It’s a commemorative issue that showcases the community’s 50 years of excellence in Worcester County. The Association has reported an increase in revenue at the Yacht and Beach Clubs over the Father’s Day weekend. Matt Ort Companies, which was tapped to head up food & beverage operations at both clubs is praised for its continued efforts to improve the amenities. Also in this issue, the Ocean Pines Farmers & Artisans Market has reached its creative adds a new lively and playful twist to its Saturday market that some folks are calling “delightfully unusual.” Flip through the pages of the newsletter and take pride in the community you call ‘home.’

Four Board of Directors Seats Available During Election

Ballots that are mailed to Members will be due on Aug. 8. Votes will then be counted on Aug. 10. There will be four (4) winners, the two highest vote totals will earn a three-year term, the next two (2) highest vote totals will earn a one year term due to vacancies. Ballot totals will be validated during the annual meeting on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. at the Assateague Room in the Ocean Pines Community Center.

Ocean Pines Operates First Summer Mid-Week Farmers Market

A popular year-round farmers market that is deeply rooted in Worcester County sprouts a new seasonal mid-week market in Ocean Pines. Read more on page 28.


Junior Golf Campers Learn the Sport of a Lifetime in Ocean Pines

Ocean Pines Golf Club hosted more than 30 junior golfers in the first of a series of sold-out camps that will be held throughout the summer.

More than 120 total registered campers will participate in four camp sessions this summer, which have grown in popularity since Ocean Pines Golf Club PGA Director of Golf John Malinowski began offering them in 2012.

Malinowski and golf course staff provide instruction in swing basics, chipping and putting, rules and etiquette, the use of irons and woods and more for beginner and experienced players ages 5-14. The camps, each held from 9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. for four consecutive days, are open to the public.

Ocean Pines Marina Re-Certified as Maryland Clean Marina

Ocean Pines Marina is officially re-certified as a Maryland Clean Marina. The statewide recognition illustrates Ocean Pines Association’s continued commitment to clean marina practices and its dedication to the health of Delmarva’s waterways.

“It is very rewarding to exercise environmentally conscious practices at our recreational marina in Ocean Pines,” said Denise Sawyer, director of marketing and public relations for the Ocean Pines Association. “Marina Manager Ron Fisher and his team work tirelessly to demonstrate a willingness to meet the rigorous pollution prevention standards established by the Maryland Clean Marina Committee and the Department of Natural Resources.”
