Aqua Exercise Classes: Beginning February 2019

The Sports Core Pool in Ocean Pines offers a variety of water aerobics and aquatic fitness classes in our indoor pool with different intensity and skill levels. Our classes at the public facility, which is located at 11144 Cathell Road, combine certified techniques with innovative training tools, making for one-of-a-kind, full-body workouts.

SUPER SHARKS

WHEN: Mon / Wed / Fri, 9:00am–9:50am; FEB 4 – MAR 22 (*Pool closed 3/4–3/7)

This program offers a high-intensity workout that will improve your stroke technique in order to allow you to become a more efficient swimmer. Incorporates the latest competitive drill techniques to build both your endurance & overall aerobic fitness level. Pre-requisite: Familiar with basic front crawl, backstroke, breast-stroke & be very comfortable in the water. Note: Membership in U.S. Masters is optional.

CREAKY JOINTS

CREAKY JOINTS 1: MON, WED & FRI, 11:00am-11:50am; FEB 4 – MAR 22 *No class 3/4–3/7

This minimum-impact class focuses on working all joints of the body to improve balance and flexibility. It is particularly suited for individuals with arthritis or muscular disorders that impair movement.

HYDRORIDER WATER CYCLING

WHEN: Tue & Thur, 6:00pm–6:40pm; FEB 5 – MAR 21 *No class 3/4–3/8

Try our Hydrorider class for a different workout! Hydroriders are user-friendly, in-water cycling bikes that are perfect for any skill level. Buoyancy provides support for joints & is wonderful for people with arthritis. Water exercise also allows you to train at a higher intensity rate due to the cooling effect & recovery at a faster rate. Note: Please show up 10 minutes prior to class time to set up your bike. The class is 30 minutes in the water.

AQUA BOOT CAMP FITNESS

WHEN: Mon / Wed / Fri, 6:00pm–6:50pm; FEB 11 – MAR 29 *No class 3/4–3/7

This HIGHER-INTENSITY water fitness program provides the benefits of a pool, with little to no impact on joints & expands lung capacity, as well as the benefits of weight & resistance training of a traditional gym. Not sure? Come try the first class for FREE.

WET WORKS!

A fun, lively water exercise class featuring a total-body workout using kickboards, noodles, barbells & stretch cords. Men welcome & encouraged to attend!

This class features a total-body workout designed to build core strength & improve balance & flexibility with the use of kick-boards, noodles, barbells & stretch cords. Pre-requisite: Must be comfortable in deep water.

AQUA–JOG

WHEN: Tue & Thur, 9:00am–9:30am; FEB 12 – MAR 28

Aqua-jogging closely mimics natural running form & provides a neuromuscular workout that gives aerobic benefits & helps keep running-specific muscles active. The same can’t be said for biking & swimming. This is a perfect workout for everyone, especially run-ners who want to switch it up. Running in water is 15% harder than on land due to the resistance. Don’t miss this awesome workout!

WATER AEROBICS – EVENINGS

WHEN: Tue & Thur, 5:15pm–6:00pm; FEB 19 – APR 4 (*No class 3/4–3/7)

This fun, energetic exercise program will give you results but isn’t too hard on your body. Aquatic exercise not only enhances your cardiovascular fitness, but it can also improve muscular endurance & over-all strength without the impact of floor work. The class is set to music!

AQUA YOGA

WHEN: Wed & Fri, 8:00am–8:45am; FEB 20 – APR 5 (*No class 3/6)

This super low-impact class makes it possible for people with joint pain to improve their strength, flexibility & range of motion. The buoyancy of the water takes the pressure off the joints, alleviating pain or discomfort people may feel when exercising. Since the body bears less weight in water, the muscles can relax & be stretched & strengthened with less incidence of injury.
