A winter storm warning remains in effect until 1 am Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Ocean Pines and neighboring areas in Lower Maryland are impacted. Snow up to ten inches and freezing drizzle have been reported, with temperatures in lower 20s. Snow is expected to taper off, into flurries and freezing drizzle Sunday evening.
The Ocean Pines Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining roads, street signs, drainage ditches, and snow removal.
“Crews have been called into work since four this morning [Saturday, Jan. 7] and will probably be here all night [Saturday] as well as a good part of tomorrow [Sunday],” said director of Ocean Pines Public Works Eddie Wells. “All of the roads have been plowed once. We are going back for a second time, widening the roadway. Crews will be cleaning cul de sacs and mailbox pads.”
